Indanthrene — Also known as “indanthrone blue”, indanthrene is a deep blue dye, introduced in 1901, that serves as an organic indigo compound. As a color, Indanthrene is every bit as dark as the compound that gives it its name—a deep, intense shade of dark blue with some very subtle red or violet-red undertones running just beneath the surface to round it out.
